Lake Odessa, MI (Tuesday, August 27, 2019) - For the second time in 2019, the American Ethanol Modified Tour Presented by Allstar Performance (AEmods) will battle at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan on Thursday, August 29th. The final trip to the Speedway this season marks an exciting pairing with the World of Outlaws Morton Building Late Model Series.
On Thursday, teams will unload for a chance at $1,500 in a rare opportunity to run DIRTcar UMP Modifieds at the IMCA sanctioned I-96 Speedway. Back on May 17th, the AEmods made their second trip to I-96 in Tour history, where a full field of 24 competitors searched for YellowHose.com Victory Lane. Traverse City, Michigan’s Collin Thirlby set the pace for the entire event, leading the field to the American Ethanol Green Flag alongside Brad Wilson. Thirlby jumped out to the early lead and never looked back on his way to the NUVU Fuels 30 victory.
Thirlby held off a number of hard charging competitors, including David Mielke, Dylan Woodling, and now AEmods Championship Points Leader, Will Krup. Mielke and Krup have shown their strength this summer. Mielke has one win and two third place finishes in the last three races and since the NUVU Fuels 30 earlier this year, Krup has not finished off the podium.
Krup, driving the Willy’s Carb K19 for JHA Motorsports, comes into Thursday’s event with a massive points lead over Luke Hubbell and Garrett Rons, two drivers both seeking their first wins on Tour. Rons has five races to close a 36-point deficit to second place Hubbell. Collin Thirlby and John McClure are currently tied for fourth place, with 379 points each. That’s just 22 points ahead of David Mielke, lurking in fifth.
Gates open at 4:00 p.m. and racing begins Thursday evening at 8:00 p.m. Advance tickets are available online at i96speedway.com.
