Marne, MI (Friday, September 21, 2018) - It's week two of three for the American Ethanol Late Model Tour (AELMT) and the American Ethanol Modified Tour Presented by Allstar Performance (AEMODT) in Round Two of Berlin Goes Dirt. Many drivers head into the weekend looking for much better results, and a chance at an increased pay day at the end of the YellowHose.com 40 and the Bilstein Shock Absorbers 30.
Week one was a tough one for the AELMT with 28 of the area’s best DIRTcar UMP Late Model drivers working to take home the then $4,000 prize. At the end of the 40 lap event, just 6 cars took the checkered flag. This week, teams will battle for an increased $5,000 to win pay check in the 40 lap feature. Points leader Brandon Thirlby goes into the night with a comfortable 82-point lead over Eric Spangler, and an 85-point advantage over Travis Stemler who comes off a career best finish (2nd) in last week's show.
As for the AEMODT, drivers are on the hunt to try and shut down Jefferey Erickson Jr, who dominated the 30-lap event last weekend, only being challenged by David Mielke before he spun in turns three and four. As for the championship hunt, a shake up within the top three has caught fans attention, as Chad Bauer took second spot from Mielke last week with a podium finish. Bauer is now 55-points behind leader Jacob Poel, as Mielke now sits 70-points out of the top spot. This week, teams will battle for an increased $2,000 to win.
Racing begins Saturday at 6:30 p.m. with both American Ethanol Tours being joined by Michigan Street Stocks and Compacts. For gate times, ticket info, and more, log onto berlinraceway.com.
