Lake Odessa, Michigan (Tuesday, September 11, 2018) – Following Saturday Night’s YellowHose.com 30 American Ethanol Modified Tour (AEMODT) event at Merritt Speedway, a pair of penalties were assessed by American Ethanol Modified Tour Officials.
Alan Mielke, a crewman and father of AEMODT driver David Mielke, was asked to leave the racetrack by Merritt Speedway Officials for an incident with an American Ethanol Modified Tour driver. Mr. Mielke did cooperate with track officials. Alan Mielke made physical contact with Jacob Poel, while Poel was returning his number 82 Modified to his pit stall after a heat race. American Ethanol Modified Tour Officials have suspended Alan Mielke, placed the driver of the number 87 Modified, David Mielke, and team on probation and assessed a fine.
Jacob Poel’s crewmen responded to the altercation by approaching David Mielke and his race team at his number 87 Late Model, while staged in the staging lanes, waiting to hit the track for Merritt Speedway Late Model Heat Races. Poel’s crewmen expressed their displeasure before vacating the area. Jacob Poel and his racing team have been placed on probation.
During the victory lane celebration, Jacob Poel got out of his car, stood on the door in celebration, raised his arms up, then, with his middle figure, Poel made an inappropriate gesture in the direction of David Mielke and his racing team. This gesture was made in front of the main grandstands at Merritt Speedway and was seen by many, live on the AEMODT Facebook feed. Jacob Poel has been fined by AEMODT Officials for his action.
