American Ethanol Modified Tour Set for Labor Day Weekend Double Header

Lake Odessa, MI (Thursday, August 30, 2018) – The American Ethanol Modified Tour presented by Allstar Performance (AEMODT) celebrates the end of summer with a big weekend of racing. On Friday, the Tour makes a stop at Hartford Speedway for a blockbuster show with the Engine Pro Sprints On Dirt Series presented by ARP. Then on Saturday, the AEMODT travels north to Merritt Speedway, located between Lake City and Houghton Lake, Michigan, for day one of a two-day race weekend.

The chase for the 2018 Championship remains close and interesting for the drivers in the AEMODT, with defending champion Jacob Poel showing a narrow 19-point advantage over Gladwin, Michigan’s David Mielke.  Mielke, who finished runner up in the 2017 points standings, closed the gap on Poel during the August 10th and 11th double header weekend at Mt. Pleasant Speedway and Merritt Speedway.  Mielke picked up the win during the 3rd Annual Tommie Bauer Memorial presented by YellowHose.com at Mt. Pleasant Speedway, before finishing second in the Napa Auto and Truck Parts 30 at Merritt Speedway, behind Poel.  The 2017 show at Hartford Speedway saw Poel go to victory lane, while Mielke finished second.

The two drivers have shared YellowHose.com Victory lane at Merritt Speedway this season, and they will battle it out to see who will go there for the final time in 2018.  Poel started the season with the Merritt Showdown win on June 6th, taking the lead after Mielke blew an engine with two laps to go; then Mielke went to victory lane on July 27th, and Poel took the checkered flag again on August 11th.  Other competitors, however, would like to break the trend, such as Chad Bauer and Collin Thirlby.  Those two drivers have each posted podium finishes when either Poel or Mielke collected the wins.

Friday’s racing from Hartford Speedway is set to get underway at 8:00 p.m., with grandstand gates opening at 5:00 p.m.  General admission is just $16 for the program that also includes Engine Pro Sprints on Dirt, Stock Cars, and Cyberstocks.  On Saturday, pit gates open at 3:00 p.m. at Merritt Speedway, and racing starts at 7:00 p.m. with a $14 general admission.
