Rochester Hills, Michigan (Wednesday, October 25, 2017): Seventeen drivers between the American Ethanol Late Model Tour (AELMT) and American Ethanol Modified Tour Presented by Allstar Performance (AEMODT) chased the QuickCar Racing Products Rookie of the Year titles in 2017. As the season wound down, Matt Shipley and Jesse Playter became the serious contenders in the Late Model Tour while Josh Scott, Anthony Deming and Brian Przepiora fought for the crown in the Modified Tour. In the end, it was both Ohio natives, Shipley and Scott who won their respective QuickCar Rookie of the Year titles and did so by a relatively large margin.

Matt Shipley made his trips from Bowling Green, Ohio to compete with AELMT worthwhile.  Shipley made 11 out of 12 A-Mains in his rookie season and had several solid finishes; his best, a fifth place finish on June 21st at Mt. Pleasant Speedway, driving the only crate engine powered late model on the Tour.  Three days later, Matt Shipley drove his Schaeffer’s Specialized Lubricants number 44 to the Pace Performance Heat Race Victory Lane at I-96 Speedway. Shipley finished ninth in the overall AELMT Championship Point Standings and finished atop the AELMT QuickCar Rookie of the Year Standings 268 points ahead of second place, Jesse Playter.

Josh Scott began his QuickCar Rookie of the Year title quest with an impressive fourth place finish at Thunderbird Raceway on May 27, 2017, the inaugural race for the American Ethanol Modified Tour presented by Allstar Performance.  Scott would go on to earn two more top five finishes in 2017, one of which came at I-96 Speedway on June 25th and the other at Merritt Speedway on September 2nd. Josh Scott driving the Log Cabin Tavern number 11js would go on to collect an impressive 10 top ten finishes  in his rookie season. The Grand Rapids, Ohio driver finished seventh in the overall AEMODT Championship Standings and 151 points ahead of second place Anthony Deming in the QuickCar Rookie of the Year Standings.
